What’s in Aromacentric Blends?
Products are made with organic or wildcrafted essential oils and plant-based materials whenever possible. All products are free of Parabens, Dea, Pthalates, synthetic dyes and synthetic fragrances. Many of the products are oil based and therefore botanical preservatives are acceptable to use. In the case of our body lotion, we use Sodium Levulinate as a preservative. It is the sodium salt of levulinic acid derived from corn and rated "0" on The Environmental Working Group’s Skin Deep Cosmetics Database.
If aromatherapy uses essential oils, each of which has powerful healing properties, do I need to consult my doctor before using them?
The products available through Aromacentric’s online store are not formulated for serious or chronic conditions.
If you choose to explore aromatherapy on a more clinical level to address specific problems, and you have a serious or chronic condition or if you are pregnant or nursing, please consult your primary practitioner before you introduce other products or modalities into your health regime.
Scents and Sensitivity: What if I have an allergic reaction to a product?
Like any skin product, sensitivity could occur. Do a patch test first if you have sensitive skin and if you know you often react to products. Apply a small amount on your inner arm and wait 24 hours to see if there is any reaction. As with any products not specifically indicated for wounds, avoid contact with broken skin.
If you do get a skin irritation, use unscented soap and wash gently with lots of water. Expose to air if possible but not to direct sun. Carrier oils like Jojoba or Almond oil are good to apply to the area as well.
For those people who have sensitivities to perfume, essential oils are a totally different experience and are worth a try. Essential oils are pure plant extracts and do not contain the same chemicals that are used to make fragrance the tenacious day-long experience that the mass perfume consumer expects.
I‘ve heard that people take essential oils internally. Is this safe?
Ingesting essential oils needs to be done under close supervision only and normally prescribed by MDs (mostly in the UK and France). It is highly inadvisable as a self-treatment and Aromacentric does not encourage or advocate using essential oils internally without medical supervision. Not even lemon essential oil in your water. Use the real thing! ;)
What if I have a nut allergy? Can I use Aromacentric blends?
If you have a nut allergy, there are definitely oils that could be reactive such as Sweet Almond, Sesame and Avocado. Ingredients will always appear in the product description for your review. Here are some amazingly nourishing oils that are nut-free:
- Coconut (fractionated)
- Evening primrose
Are essential oils safe during pregnancy?
There is a lot of debate by both the aromatherapy community and from the non. In the first trimester, all pretty much agree to leave nature alone to do her thing as much as possible. In the second and third trimesters, it is more acceptable to use essential oils, but very prudently and in moderation. If there is anything to take away on the topic of pregnancy and essential oils, it’s that while there has not been reported mishaps around the use of essential oils in pregnancy, there is not a lot of information proving its absolute safety to mom and baby. For more information about essential oils during pregnancy as well as essential oil toxicity and general safety, please see the National Association of Holistic Aromatherapy (NAHA) website
Can I get a custom-made blend for a specific health issue?
Definitely. We offer a custom program and will take detailed information from you about your wellness concerns, including any medications you are taking and your fragrance preferences. With this personal profile (that is kept completely confidential) beautiful balancing and restorative products can be made just for you.
What if I don’t like my blend? Can I return it?
So sorry, but as a small start-up that mixes small batches, once your order is made, we cannot accept returns. If you feel there is something clearly wrong with the ingredients, please let us know.
We do our very best to create formulations that have widespread appeal and describe each clearly in the product description.
